Providence Health is currently looking for an experienced Nursing Administrator to join our team on a PRN basis. The ideal candidate will have prior nurse management experience.

Essential Functions

  • In the absence of AVP of nursing and clinical managers, supervises overall activities relating to nursing care. Reviews patient conditions, evaluates and assesses acutely ill patients and those presenting unusual problems.
  • Functions as a triage nurse in order to obtain beds in an area providing the level of care needed for patient admission/transfer.
  • Works collaboratively with the admitting department regarding placement of patients to specific units. Is responsible/accountable for the final decision when a conflict regarding bed management arises.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff concerning all aspects of patient care, as well as assisting with patient care as needed
  • Makes nursing judgments based on clinical knowledge, to include age specific needs and the cultural diversity of all patients. Coordinates and assists staff with determining actions to be taken.
  • Provides leadership and direction in emergency situations (based on current nursing practice and established standards)
  • Contacts the administrator on call if there is some question as to the appropriate response to a situation or if additional help is needed.
  • Provides leadership and direction in dire situations based on current nursing practices and standards.


Job Requirements

Minimum Experience

A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience which isshown to be progressively responsible. Demonstrated ability in leadership andbasic management/supervisory skills. Superior assessment and judgment skillsessential. Excellent clinical skills required with critical care experiencepreferred.

 

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. MSN withminimum of 6 months supervisory experience or BSN/Diploma with 2 years nursingexperience and minimum of 6 months supervisory experience, or ADN with 2 yearsnursing experience with 1 year supervisory experience required. Supervisoryexperience may be obtained through coursework in supervision/management oractual work experience.

Licensure/Certification

Current license as a Registered Nurse from S.C.

Current BLS upon hire with American Heart Association.

ACLS required within 90 days of hire or unit transfer.
