Providence Urology Specialists are looking for an experienced Administrative Assistant to join their team.
Providence Urology Specialists deliver premier technology and practice to treat illness in the male and female urinary tract and male reproductive organs in the Midlands.

Administrative Assistant Essential Functions:
  • Greets visitors and patients. Determines their needs and directs them accordingly.
  • Answers questions and gives information directly or on the telephone within the limits of their knowledge and medical practice policies.
  • Makes and checks off appointments, giving routine non-medical instructions in preparation for the patient's visit to the practice.
  • Retrieves medical records from files, prepares fee slips and attaches to the medical record for use in conjunction with patient's visit.
  • Retrieves and files medical records, letters, reports and miscellaneous items as requested. Purges medical records monthly.
  • Collect fees, issues receipts and counsels patients concerning their accounts when necessary. Counts and balances money at the end of the day.
  • Prepares hospital lists. Prepares hospital orders for physician.
  • Schedules hospital admission. Schedules surgery. Performs precertification. Secures information from hospitals concerning consultations.
  • Researches files to determine if patient has visited the practice before. Makes up medical records for new patients.
  • Handles refills for prescriptions according to medical practice policy.
  • May be required to perform clinical duties under the supervision of the physician from time to time.

Job Requirements

Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. Experience or interest in health care.
 
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a secretarial or Medical Assistant course at the Junior College level is preferred.
Required Skills
Requires basic computer software skills. Requires verbal ability to discuss medical and financial problems with patients.
