Summary:  

AssistsImaging staff with a variety of technical and non-technical functionsconsistent with prior experience or certification. Collaborates with otherhealthcare providers for patient’s continuum of care.  Responsible for the safe transport of Imagingand Cardiovascular patients.  Greets andassists patients, providers and visitors to the imaging department.  Assists technical staff in the performance ofprocedures by transporting and transferring patients, screening patients, andcoordinating patient flow, etc.  Performsclerical duties associated with the operation of the department.  Responsible for supply chain duties forimaging including inventory control and stocking of supplies.


Essential Functions:
  1. Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient serviceto customers.
  2. Monitors patient waiting areas and provides assistance forvisitors, patients, and providers as they present to the imagingdepartment.  Keeps patient / family informedwhen there are unforeseen delays
  3. Performs a variety of clerical duties within thedepartment, including but not limited to: receiving and directing phone calls, receiving and reviewing requestsfor imaging studies, responding to inquiries regarding patients or reportstatus, processing requests for distribution of imaging studies and reports,distribution of mammography letters, etc. 
  4. Processes the release of patient information and images inaccordance with hospital policy and HIPAA regulations
  5. Demonstrates the ability to operate all computer systemsutilized within the department. 
  6. Assists with patient transport to and from the departmentaccording to designated procedures in a timely manner.  This includes appropriate use of the tripticket and hand off communication. Maintains a safe environment for patient transport.
  7. Assists in performing exams under the direction of aradiographer/radiologist by:
  8. Escortspatients to and from imaging rooms and assists patients on and off tables asneeded.
  9. Assists thepatient in completing the appropriated screening form.
  10. Monitorscompletion of and retrieves lab values as required.  Has a working knowledge of normal ranges andnotifies radiographers to aid in efficient patient flow.
  11. Assistsradiographers in screening patients for allergies and contraindications priorto contrast administration. Observes patients for any unusual reactions orevents.
  12. Assistsimaging staff with imaging documentation.
  13. Dispenses oralcontrast as per departmental protocol at the direction of the radiographers /radiologist consistent with education /competency /scope of practice.
  14. Assists in IV insertion under the supervision of theradiologist consistent with education/ competency /if within scope of practice.
  15. Responsible for supply chain / inventory control processvia SMART system for the imaging department to include counting, ordering,stocking of all imaging supplies and office supplies.
  16. Participates in departmental performance improvementactivities.  May be assigned specificquality assurance / quality control duties. Assists director with PI reporting.
  17. Works various shifts / flexes as required forthe proper functioning of the department.

Job Requirements

RequiredEducation

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Prior Experience: 

Minimum 1 year experience in Imaging Department with directpatient care or 

Certified Nursing Assistant I, EMT Intermediate, or CertifiedMedical Assistant is required.

Required Certification:

American Heart Association BLS is required
