Under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Services, and according to established policies and procedures, coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient/family advocate, and works with other nursing and ancillary personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.  Work is of a very confidential nature.  Performs other duties of the department as required. The ED Behavioral Health Nurse will evaluate each patient arriving into the emergency department (ED) with a psychiatric chief complaint or a suspicion of psychiatric complaint upon their arrival to the ED.

Job Requirements

- Graduation from a Nursing Education program.
- Current NC or multistate RN licensure required.
- Employee must have the ability to understand, communicate and react
  effectively to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult
  and geriatric patients.
- Minimum of one year Behavioral Health Nursing required.
- CPR certification required and provided.
- ACLS preferred.
- CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required and provided, must be completed within one year of date of hire.
