Responsible for interviewing/screening potential blood donors and collection/manufacturing of blood products which are safe, pure and potent per federal and accreditation standards/guidelines at the donor center and on blood drives within the community. Performs job related tasks such as donor recruitment, quality control and training.
Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.
Collects and processes human samples according to specimen collection and processing protocols.
Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
Maintains equipment and appropriate inventory of medical supplies.
Stocks/organizes supplies and phlebotomy baskets and collection stations for specimen procurement.
Verifies patient and specimen identification with two identifiers before performing any procedure.
Assists with coordinating and conducting blood drives, including interviewing and screening donors.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Required Skills
Certifications:
Heartsaver CPR American Heart Association required
Licenses:
Valid Driver's License required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity and appropriateness of care to the patients of Sovah Health Danville.
Ability to perform routine venipuncture and skin puncture.
