Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician. Provides for personal care, comfort and assists with safe, clean environment, maintains equipment and supplies. Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
Certifications: Heartsaver CPR American Heart Association required
Licenses: Active, unrestricted Certified Nurses’ Aide (CNA) certification by the Virginia Board of Nursing required.Clinical Associates (CAs) or Psych Techs hired prior to 4/2002 must have a certificate of completion for the DRMC School of Nursing Clinical Associate program with continuous employment as a CA since program completion. CAs/Techs hired prior to August 15, 2013 are grandfathered into this requirement.
