SOVAH Health - Martinsville

Responsible for coordinating the clinical practice functions.  Demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the units and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care.  Accountable for the supervision of other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel.  Supports the goals of Sovah Health - Martinsville and Department of Nursing and the area(s) served and provides for the continuity and achievement of these goals.  Serves as a support and resource to department(s).  Assists the Department Director as requested.  Will assume departmental responsibilities in the absence of the Department Director.

Job Requirements

Education:  Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or Compact State.  BSN preferred. Certification in specialty preferred. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
Experience:  Minimum of two (2) years of appropriate acute care experience required, supervisory/management experience preferred. 
Skills:  Requires ability to function in stressful situations. Accepts responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on unit.  Cognitive and practical abilities to provide nursing care appropriate to all patient populations. Exhibits verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with administration, physicians, nursing staff, and all other customers of the hospital maintaining a high standard of professional ethics.
Typical Physical Demands:  Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and /or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination.  Requires standing and walking and may require bending, squatting, and kneeling.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or fluids.
