Plans and directs education for modified diets prescribed by medical staff for patients with therapeutic diet needs. Works closely with patients regarding food habits and preferences, and advises them on types and quantities of food suitable for their condition and successful recovery.                    Is responsible for charting, on the medical record, reports concerning the patient's prescribed therapeutic diet. The clinical dietitian is responsible for the nutritional assessment of patients identified to be at nutritional risk and for recording in the medical record any recommended medical nutrition therapy. The clinical dietitian also performs other related duties as assigned, including coverage as needed for various outpatient programs.  The clinical dietitian may also as time allows participate in community events as a representative for the hospital for community health promotion.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in foods and nutrition; membership in the American Dietetic Association, and licensed in the State of North Carolina. Must also be RD or RD eligible.  A minimum of 3 years of experience in a health care environment is preferred.    Must be registered in Age Specific Competency and certified in CPR.
