Central Carolina Hospital

Summary: 

Manages operation of Engineering Department to include physical plant maintenance, biomedical maintenance, security, grounds, and construction activities.  Plans, organizes, directs and controls repair activities, new construction, renovations, security services and energy management activities.  Performs duties of Safety Officer to include collecting data, evaluating safety risks, and providing safety education for employees.

Essential Functions:
  1. Manages employees, supervisors in the day to day function of the Plant Operations department.
  2. Develops policies and procedures for the department and the hospital.
  3. Participates in the Care of Environment SET, monitors and participates and manages Security, Life Safety, Equipment management and Utilities.
  4. Applies Engineering principles and theories to ensure best available controls are in place to maximize life expectancy of equipment, minimize down time and improve reliability.
  5. Manages Security Services to ensure investigations are completed in a timely manner.
  6. Performs Safety Officer functions to ensure facility compliance with regulatory issue effecting patient, employee and visitor safety by staying knowledgeable of new codes and developing program compliance.
  7. Manages contractors and construction trade for the facility.
  8. Supervises construction projects both new and renovations on the hospital’s buildings.
  9. Consults with architects, builders and blueprints for complete knowledge of building and effective changes or additions.
  10. Assures maintenance of all hospital systems, electrical, HVAC, gases, phones, filters, ceiling, alarms, sprinklers, etc.
  11. Collaborates with directors and all departments  for problem solving and innovation.

Job Requirements

RequiredEducation

Associate’s degree is required
Bachelor’s degree is preferred
Required Certification: 
OSHA certification is preferred
Other:
Minimum of two years of experience is required

Proficient with diagnostic, clinical, biomedical and building equipmenttroubleshooting and repair is required

Proficient with safety surveys and security incidentinvestigation and reporting is required

Previous Joint Commission experience is preferred
Previous Safety Officer experience is preferred
