Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a Director of Information Systems.  This position's primary responsibility is managing Conemaugh Nason Medical Center computer resources including services, software, equipment, finances, and staff in a manner that fits the goals of the organization.  In conjunction, as defined below, the Conemaugh Nason Medical Center Director of Information Systems will play a secondary role in providing Information Technology support services at Conemaugh Miners Medical Center.

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is a 45-bed hospital that serves rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and parts of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon counties.  Caring for the community since 1900, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center prides itself on providing safe, high quality, compassionate care.  With a state-of-the art cardiac catheterization lab, Conemaugh Nason offers a range of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services close to home when every minute matters. Job Requirements

Essential Functions:

Chair the Information Systems Steering Committee, by coordinating meetings and giving direction within the committee.

Serve in the role of HIPAA Security Officer, and provide the necessary directions, and policy making to ensure complete hospital compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule.

Works with Hospital Managers/Directors in the long range planning and implementation of I.S. needs and strategies.

Makes appropriate use of outside technical consultants.

Maintain and review system documentation and logs on a periodic basis.

Maintain all privileged and administrative passwords in accordance to security policies.

Continually update the Disaster Recovery Plan.

Ensure Compliance with all software licensure.

Ensure Information Security is preserved across all systems.

Help to preview and evaluate contracts, and computer related contract renewals.

Analyzes future needs for acquisition, and submit budget recommendations to the CFO.

Authorize spending of equipment under spending cap, and seeking approval of large acquisitions from the CFO and CEO.

Oversee all MIS department staff, and ensure they are fulfilling their job requirements.

Recommend and help provide information systems training for staff, and all Nason employees.

Monitor Internet usage and provide detailed reports as requested.

Maintains on-call accessibility for after hours and weekend emergency needs, and provide notification and suitable coverage when unavailable.

Secondary I.T. Support Services

The Conemaugh Nason Medical Center Director of Information Systems will provide Information Technology support services at Conemaugh Miners Medical Center acting in a secondary role. Duties will focus on Telecommunications, Security Systems, Technology Utility Infrastructure (Wi-Fi, Internet, etc.), and acting as the management liaison for non-Epic I.T. systems. All duties, including any assigned ancillary or other duties, will be directed and evaluated by Conemaugh Miners Medical Center's CEO.

Attend mandatory annual in-services.

Adheres to privileged work information with no deviation from standards, and maintain confidentiality regarding patient information.

Participates in continuing education programs as per job classification requirements.

Job Requirements:

B.S. Degree in Computer Science or extensive relevant experience with managing information systems.

3-5 years of information systems experience in healthcare with leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge of best security practices for information systems.

Knowledge of a broad range of technology applicable to information systems.

Knowledge of Networking, LANs, Wireless networks, server related technology,

Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot computer and network problems.

Knowledge of the best practices in managing information systems.

Knowledge of all of Nason Hospital security policies.

Knowledge of disaster recovery methodology and risk management strategies for data availability.

Knowledge of IT disaster recovery planning and risk management.

Ability to manage IT staff and coordinate external staffing resources.

Ability to guide and direct the hospital in purchasing of software, complete systems, and hardware.

Able to serve as needed on various committees as requested.

Ability to work flexible hours and to be on call when needed.
