The Information Technology Director directs and supervises the daily operations and supports functions of the Information Technology Department. The Director will plan and direct the strategic and tactical information technology plans for all information systems for Maria Parham Health. This position will also develop, implement and enforce required policies and procedures to improve operations, quality and efficiencies of the Information Technology Department in addition to adhering to the guidelines of outside governing agencies. The Director will coordinate, monitor, schedule, recommend and maintain new and/or upgrades for all hospital information management systems.

In addition to the above duties, the Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Ensure various project management methodologies and industry standard best practices are utilized to implement and maintain all voice data networks
  • Provide direction, management, and coaching for the application, operations, helpdesk, database, network and telecommunication teams
  • Ensure a high level of integrity for all computer systems by implementing various levels of security to protect them from hostile entities both internal and external
  • Provide contract negotiations and management over all information technology vendors
  • Manage capital and expense budgets for IT department totaling over $2.5m
  • Advise executive management on all matters related to IT and business computing systems
  • Serves chair of the IT Steering Committee
  • Serves as the HIPAA Data Security Officer responsible for ensuring compliance to the HIPAA data security regulations by implementing and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Serves on a number of hospital committees including: Standards and Accreditation, Quality Management, Customer Excellence, Organizational Support and HIPAA

This Director will supervise 3-5 direct reports responsible for Applications, Operations, Database Administration, Desktop Support. Help Desk, Security, Network Administration and Telecommunications functional areas and will indirectly or directly manage 18+ IT team members.

Job Requirements

Application should reflect evidence of the following:

  • Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in computer science or related field
  • Fifteen plus years experience managing and directing daily computer operations and support functions is preferred
  • Two to five years managing multi-platform hospital information technology applications and voice and data network environments
  • Supervisory and leadership skills in addition to project management experience
  • Familiarity with software development and support including programming and business system analysis and design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Understanding and utilization of process improvement techniques and methods
  • Understanding of computer systems and network security concerns and mitigation of associated risks
  • Any combination of training and experience
