Employee Health Nurse: Essential Functions
  • Through orientation and continuing education, all required safety and infection control policies and procedures are learned and followed.
  • Adheres to all hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
  • Completes pre-employment and annual health assessments on employees and volunteers to include drug testing and PPD's. Reviews medical questionnaires and documents.
  • Coordinates referrals, and communicates effectively. Responsible for monitoring and documentation of entire process to completion of clearance status.
  • Coordinates Workers' Compensation Program and counsels employees as needed. Insures all on-line forms/documentation are accurately completed and promptly handled. Communicates with claims administrator regularly and assists the hospital's attorney with hearing preparations.
  • Monitors lost time situations and tries to place employees in departments that can accommodate light duty restrictions where appropriate.
  • Provides medical first aid for injured/ill employees, to include instances of exposures to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
  • Follows-up on all employees/volunteer accident reports. Assists the Safety Director in monitoring management follow-up.
  • Maintains confidential medical records on all hospital employees and volunteers. Insures documentation is complete and up-to-date. Follows all HIPAA regulations for PHI.
  • Coordinates OSHA and DHEC loss and compliance with regulation issues.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the adult and geriatric patient populations. The skills and knowledge to provide such care may be obtained through education, training and experience.
  • Promotes wellness and a healthy lifestyle. Provides health education information and counseling as requested or necessary.
  • Assists with the development of policies. Prepares written correspondence as necessary. Serves on committees as needed to include the Safety Committee.

Job Requirements
Minimum Work Experience
3 - 5 years of RN experience, must include Employee Health experience. Knowledge of Occupational Health functions, workers' compensation laws and OSHA & DHEC regulations required.
Must be a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse currently licensed by the State of South Carolina. BSN Preferred.
