Castleview Hospital is currently seeking a high performing individual as a Director of Operations. This position reports directly to the CEO.  The Plant Services Director is responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of Plant functions through effective planning, organizing and controlling department activities including management of the Facility Engineering Department to ensure the efficient accomplishment of repairs, maintenance, construction services and physical plant operation.  This role organizes and oversees all facets of the Plant Services Department.  Must have leadership skills and strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts. Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment.

  • Directs and follows all policies, procedures for the development, implementation, monitoring, and systems for the repair. This includes  maintenance, safety, operation of equipment, building and all grounds.
  • Emergency management action plans to support the physical plant under conditions such as utility failure, internal or external disaster or fire. Ensures that all departmental personnel are trained and proficient in emergency actions.
  • Works to establish preventive maintenance hospital wide.
  • Maintains and creates the operating budgets. 
  • Conducts safety meetings monthly.
  • Evaluates, selects, and directs the installation of new systems and equipment. 
  • Maintains department with qualified personnel.  Conducts interviews and selection for new candidates.  Will be the direct report for all staff in the Engineering department.  This includes competencies, evaluations, counseling and terminations. Following all policies and procedures.

Has a good to excellent knowledge of the following:
1. Cost estimating for in-house and local projects
2. Coordination of construction issues effecting existing Hospital Systems
3. Owners representative regarding Physical Plant Issues
4. Assist in Project Phase Planning
5. Project Start up and Building Project Commissioning

Has a good to excellent knowledge of the following systems:
1. Assist in Department Budget Preparation
2. Operation and Planning and Implementation of a Formalized Preventive Maintenance Program as per Corporation Guidelines.
3. Hands on Working Knowledge of a Computerized PM and Utility Management Program. (In this case Worxhub)
4. Inventory Control
5. Blue Print Reading
6. Schematic Reading
7. Work Management and Flow Process
8. Service Contract and Administration
9. Safety Committee – Member and Capable of Chairing the Committee
10. Emergency Preparedness involvement
11. Safety Director – Capability of and experience of serving as the Director
12. Operations Budget – Planning and Management of budget for the department.
13. Capital Budget – Planning and Management of facility capitals needs (Three outlook)
14. Construction – Assist hospital administration with the planning & budgeting of projects

Job Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is preferred with 3-5 years of related experience including supervisory experience in a hospital setting.  Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
