Under the general supervision of the Engineering Supervisor, the Maintenance Engineer Electrician Inspects, installs and replaces electrical circuits, light sockets, switches and appliances. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters and other electrical test equipment. Installs new electrical wiring and electrical components for machinery. Installs conduit as required. Dismantles machinery or appliances and disconnects electrical controls to troubleshoot malfunction and determine the nature of the problem and repair as required. Maintains records of tests and repairs made to equipment. Maintains the emergency power system generator and associated switch gear; keeps records of tests and repairs. Maintains the fire alarm system; keeps records of tests and repairs. Maintains energy management control systems. Operates and maintains the continuous safe operation of all assigned Engineering plant equipment, utilities systems and provides quality maintenance support to provide safe buildings and grounds for patients, visitors, physicians and staff. This position requires on call hours. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.  
Minimum Experience:  Five years Journeyman electrician experience required in a commercial or industrial setting.   Knowledge of State of New Mexico law, OSHA regulations, Federal/CMS and Joint Commission standards also required.   Knowledge of specialty equipment and tools; basic knowledge of basic tools and general maintenance equipment as it pertains to electrical maintenance.
Certification/Licensure:  State of New Mexico Electrician license required.  Engineer will have six months to obtain a New Mexico Electrician license from hire date.
