A hospital financial counselor evaluates the financial situations of medical facility patients. Arranging a method of payment for services rendered, the counselor works within the financial limitations the patient may have, collecting deposit for services, providing price estimates, processes healthcare assistance applications, special pricing and filing liability liens. Interaction includes by telephone, face-to-face in the office or at patient’s bedside.


The Financial Counselors should have the following skills, a good listener, analytical, detail oriented, ability to advocate on patient’s behalf, unafraid to inquire about patient’s finances and ability to ask for payments in a professional manner.


To be successful as a hospital financial counselor, a candidate must be confident in his/her knowledge of the field, so he/she may make decisions independently. Additionally, counselors interact with patients during stressful situations and, as a result, must communicate both effectively and tactfully. Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner. Dress is professional business casual.

Monday-Friday 10:30A-7P, occasional weekend rotation

Job Requirements

EXCEPTIONAL customer service skills

High School diploma or GED.

Data Entry speed of 30wpm with 95% accuracy.
