The Food/Nutrition Aide is directly responsible to the Food and Nutrition Services Director.  The food/nutrition aide is an essential member of food and nutrition services and works in a team oriented atmosphere.  He/She performs various tasks oriented toward the common goal of providing food for patients, visitors, employees, physicians, etc.  He/She is essential in ensuring the department provides high quality efficient service pertaining to food and nutrition for all aspects of the hospital.  Other duties may be assigned as related to the essential functions.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Must be able to read and write legibly.  Must be able to perform simple arithmetic as in reducing a recipe or running the cash register.
  •  Must be able to follow written or oral direction. 
  •  Requires on-the-job training in food preparation, cooking and estimation of quantities of food needed.
  •  Good interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate with patients, visitors, employees and doctors in a kind and respectful manner. 
  • Must show initiative in food production.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year previous experience as cook in commercial business or large quantity situation is preferred
