Rutherford Regional Health System

Summary:

Assists physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate, and complete documentation practices.

Reports to: Director, HIM

Essential Functions:

Perform medical record pick up in various areas of hospital.

Reconciles receipt of all types of records (ED, SDC, Inpatient, etc) via daily patient logs.
Preps, Scans and assigns form IDs from all medical records for the EMR/ELR.
Analyzes the record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
Review deficiencies for documentation completion and updates the deficiency tracking system.
Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors while maintaining confidentiality.
Providing reception desk assistance as needed including processing ROI requests per policy.
Corrects patient name changes in the Master Patient Index per policy.
Monitors transcription system software for accuracy and document processing.
Assists medical staff in completion of medical record deficiencies.
Accesses, uses or discloses PHI only when necessary to perform official job duties while maintaining the security of passwords and computer workstation.
Performs quality reviews as needed. 

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Associates Degree preferred

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience
1-3 years of Health Care Management Experience X Required (preferably within the Health Information Management setting).
Required Skills
Basic office skills including Microsoft Word Processing, Excel, Outlook Email and basic internet search capabilities.
