The Insurance Verifier reviews patient information and contacts health insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits. Works with third-party payers to obtain pre-certification prior to scheduled procedures and services. Documents and maintains accurate registration and benefits information for patients into a database. The Insurance Verifier works closely with Care Coordination in regards to orders and patient status changes. This position requires contact with patients in the inpatient setting.   

Job Requirements

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job.  However, an equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Education:  High School diploma or GED. 
Experience: Minimum of one year related experience.  
Required skills: Strong customer service focus and relationship building skills. Ability to multi-task several projects and be detail oriented. 

Eye and hand coordination, manual dexterity for computer skills and visual acuity and hearing corrected to normal required.  Extended periods of sitting required with some walking, stooping and bending.  Able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
