Job Description

Maria Parham Health

Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.



Performs routine laboratory analysis on a daily basis. Responsible for appropriate computer operations, and instrument maintenance. Ensures test accuracy by utilization of control system with appropriate interpretation. Responsible for data entry and report generating aspects of lab computer system.



Process specimens received by the laboratory in preparation for analysis within the laboratory or sending out to the appropriate reference laboratory.



Receives incoming calls and coordinates telephone activities for the department, giving out reports as appropriate. Files various reports and sorts and distributes reports for courier or mail delivery. Assists with secretarial duties as required in absence of secretary.

Performs other related duties as assigned.



Reports to: Lab Director



Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.



Maintains adequate stock of supplies.



Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.



Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing.



Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.



Job Requirements

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.

College science/medical laboratory courses and specific medical laboratory experience preferred.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Good science and math background. Good aptitude for scientific principles and methods
