Under the general and direct supervision of the Laboratory Services Manager and according to established policies and proce­dures, schedules and supervises the staff and coordinates activities of one the Transfusion Services, Microbiology, Histology, Hematology, Chemistry, Phlebotomy/Central Processing, Outreach Laboratories and Evening Shift Sections of the Laboratory Services Department.  Work is of a highly‑confidential nature.  Performs other work of the Department as required.

Job Requirements

- Education and training equivalent to an associate’s degree (or beyond)
   in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology and at least 4
   years of experience as a medical technologist or medical laboratory
   technician are required.
- Graduation from a college or university with a baccalaureate degree in
  medical technology or a science related to clinical medicine is
  preferred.
- Registration as a MT/MLT (or equivalent in specialty area i.e.
  chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, etc) by ASCP, NCA,
  or other recognized agency is preferred.
- Some educational background and experience in supervi­sion and
  business are preferred. 
- The employee must have the ability to understand, communicate and
  react effectively to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent,
  adult, and geriatric patients.
- CPR required and provided for the Outreach Laboratory section.
