Come join our NEW TEAM NURSING MEDICAL SURGICAL UNIT!  This unit will utilize a team-based nursing practice model to allow both RN's and LPN's to work closely together, along with Patient Care Technician's, to provide the best care to our patients.   We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are engaged in providing patient centered, quality care.  Candidates must be team oriented and have great communication skills.  We are looking for individuals who are invested in the success of the unit and are engaged in process improvement.  

The LPN2, as supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in Medical/Surgical nursing, through the Team Nursing Model.

Reports to: Director Medical/Surgical - B2 & A4

Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.

Performs within a Teams-based Nursing Practice/Care Delivery Model and appropriately delegates non-nursing functions to Patient Care Technician.

Provides appropriate medication administration, within scope of practice.

Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. Documents patient care given.

Assists RN with development of plan of care.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Performs patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.

Performs POC Testing, EKGs, Phlebotomy and IV Starts, as needed.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
Graduate of a Program in Discipline (LPN) - Required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required.

Required Skills

Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association) - Required to be current upon hire

Required Skills
Licenses: State of Tennessee or Multi-State LPN licensure – Required
Proof of certification in IV therapy as mandated by the State of TN (ref: Chapter 1000-02 - .15 LPN Scope of Practice) – Required, if not current upon hire must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
