Job Summary:

The position of Manager, Clinical Education places strong emphasis on bridging educational needs with clinical performance.  The position is responsible for ensuring clinical competence to include identifying learning needs, development of educational programs to insure clinical capability, promoting skills and knowledge development, and preparing new team members to become contributing members of the staff.  The position is responsible for creating and conducting staff development programs to maintain, update, and develop competence in work related areas.  This position serves as a resource to all clinical staff to assist with learning and job performance growth, will oversee the clinical rotation program of local educational institutions, and will play a key role in the onboarding and retention of team members.  The manager will maintain clinical competence and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development and possesses ability to assess, interact, communicate, and educate adult learners.

The Clinical Education Manager will operate under the guidance of the HR Director, will lead education strategy development, education policies and procedures, thorough record keeping and timely reporting for Clark Memorial.   The Manager of Clinical Education often works independently to assist leaders while also collaborating with Nursing/Clinical leadership and Human Resources as an integral part of the team supporting the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the company.

This role will support and monitor implementation of company initiatives, policies and procedures, and assure compliance and consistency across the hospital system.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Manages the organizational orientation of new clinical team members as part of New Hire Orientation program.
  • Manages Clinical Student rotation program acting as liaison with the schools, instructors, students and the departments where they are placed.
  • Manages student shadowing program.
  • Manages all aspects of the Graduate RN Residency Onboarding Program.
  • Manages ongoing Clinical Education Programs including the issuance of CE contact hours.
  • Provides hands-on instruction and facilitation of clinical education offerings.
  • Manages compliance and record keeping of all clinical educational offerings and participation to comply with HR, State of IN/KY, CMH and TJC requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Computer work (must have experience with word, excel, power point & MS Teams).
  • Communication (must communicate collaboratively with the ability to achieve high levels of buy-in).
  • Multi-tasking (must be able to manage multiple initiatives at the same time).
  • Personal Organization (must be able to meet schedule requirements).
  • Leadership (must be able to drive organization-wide initiatives, policies and procedures).
  • Educator (must be able to teach to adult learners in a variety of formats to include live and/or virtual).
  • Assist with teaching CPR, BLS and ACLS.  Will be required to maintain instructor status.
  • Data management (must be able to effectively produce reports to monitor results).

Regulatory/Risk

  • Understands TJC and CMS HR requirements.
  • Oversees record maintenance and assists the organization with regulatory compliance.
  • Assists HR Leader as requested during surveys on standards related to education/competency.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing/healthcare experience required
  • Experience leading projects and driving results preferred
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred
  • BLS required, ACLS preferred, Instructor status to be achieved & maintained
