SOVAH Health - Danville

Manages the daily operations of the accounting department for Sovah Health and function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. Provides professional support to all areas of the Accounting department as needed.

Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.

Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management; provides coaching/counseling, disciplinary actions as needed.

Provides assistance with recruiting, selecting and training Accounting Department staff; orients new staff members. Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, and payroll.

Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.Responsibilities include the compiling, analyzing and reporting on the financial performance of the facility, including the preparation of financial statements.

Maintains general ledger including the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts. Files monthly local and state sales tax return, performs balance sheet reconciliation, and develops monthly projections and analyzes trends.

Completes daily cash sweeps, ensures cash deposit reconciliations are completed, and addresses and reconciles variances.

Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.

Manages and implements various accounting procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Assists in the development of hospital’s annual budget.Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

Graduate of a Program in Accounting required

Bachelor’s degree required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.

Minimum Work Experience

Five (5) year's accounting experience requiredHealthcare or hospital accounting experience preferredSupervisory experience preferred
