Under the direction of the Health Information Management Director and Lead Operations Technician, organize and manage health information data by ensuring its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security in both paper and electronic systems.  Provide customer service to both internal and external customers by way of walk in, phone or fax communication.  Receive, validate and process requests for patient health information while maintaining patient confidentiality and authority to access.  Service and maintain medical records applications, databases and hardware at scheduled intervals and troubleshoot issues as needed.

Job Requirements

  1. High school graduate or equivalent required.  May be substituted by five years of directly related work experience.
  2. Coursework in medical office/health information management, electronic health records, medical terminology is required

One (1) year experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

  1. Effective Oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with the public, other departments and medical staff
  2. Ability to utilize keyboard, computer, and various pieces of general office equipment
  3. Ability to work independently or as a team member to accomplish tasks or projects
  4. Ability to prioritize work assignments during peak periods and high volumes
  5. Ability to stand for long periods of time
