The Medical Technologist (MT) I maintains current professional knowledge and skills to perform testing as a generalist in the Clinical Laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and basic microbiology and blood banking. Responsible for producing high quality, accurate test results in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy.
Associate’s degree. Exception: Meets qualifications under the CLIA '88 Grandfather clause for High Complexity Testing personnel. Medical Technology internship at an accredited program. Successful completion of the MLT certification (ASCP) within 6 months of hire. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree. Medical Lab Technician (MLT ASCP) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS ASCP). 1 - 2 years generalist.
