Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, Information Technology, provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Performs recommended changes to system architecture to accommodate technology upgrades and performance problems/issues. Responsible for assisting with projects as assigned. Executes all procedures pertaining to administration, backup, and maintenance of all servers and network devices.

Responsible for monitoring network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future. Evaluates, installs, configures, and maintains network hardware, and software including operating systems to the most current approved levels.    Works to ensure all configurations and modifications are documented.

Provides administration and support for all networking protocols. Performs administration for all servers on the MPMC Network. Participates in customer, and vendor meetings as required. Collaboration with technical staff, applications development and support, computer operators and all levels of hospital staff is required.

Job Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in computer or related field. Appropriate certifications and/or experience in multi-platform operating environments. Knowledge of network hardware, software, design/configuration, desktop support, and health care in the acute care setting.     Or any equivilant combination of training and experience.
