Nurse Extern - Med/Surg - FT in Galax, VA at Twin County Regional Healthcare

Job Description

Working under an RN Preceptor, provides nursing support care to patients within the scope defined by the VA Board of Health Professions.

Job Requirements

Must be in the final year of a nursing program to become a registered nurse.

BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Successful candidate must be willing to sign two year work commitment to work as registered nurse upon graduation.  Once licensed, is eligible for $10,000 sign on bonus.

Essential Functions

Performs basic nursing tasks after appropriate training and under the supervision of the licensed nurse.

Reports to the charge nurse or primary care nurse accurate and complete information related to patient care.

All variances and concerns will be reported to the licensed nurse.

Maintains a safe patient and working environment by adhering to infection control, safety policies and procedures.

Meets attendance requirements of absenteeism and lateness.

Adheres to hospital policies supporting patient rights.

Reports any suspected violations of Corporate Compliance to an immediate supervisor,

Corporate Compliance Officer, or the Compliance Hot-Line.

Adheres to TCRH policies and procedures regarding privacy and security of health information (HIPAA).

Works collaboratively to provide a safe environment for not only the patient, but staff and visitors.
