Providence Health is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Providence Medical Group team.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs and documents a complete history and physical examination.

  • Prioritizes data collection according to the complexity and severity of the patient's condition and needs.

  • Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests and procedures that contribute to the formulation of the diagnoses and subsequent plan of care.

  • Integrates data from the assessment, relevant supporting diagnostic information and procedures to ensure that the patient database is complete.

  • Formulates the differential and working diagnosis through the analysis and synthesis of available data.

  • Collaborates and consults with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate optimal care.

  • Identifies expected outcomes through implementation of evidence-based practices.

  • Synthesizes and documents the database in the patient's record in a confidential, understandable, and retrievable manner.

  • Revises and reprioritizes diagnoses based on new and ongoing patient data and the patient's dynamic clinical status.

  • Promotes and protects health by assessing for physiologic, psychological and healthcare system risks associated with care of the patient.

  • Provides patients, and as appropriate, family members with information about intended effects and potential adverse effects of proposed prescriptive therapies.

  • Individualizes care based on the uniqueness of the patient including cultural differences, spiritual beliefs, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, lifestyle, socioeconomic status, age, and family configuration.

  • Assesses the needs of families and caregivers.

  • Collaborates with the patient, family, and the interdisciplinary team in establishing desired restorative, curative, rehabilitative, maintenance, palliative and end-of-life care outcomes.

  • Facilitates the patient's transition between and within healthcare settings (admitting, transferring, and discharging).

  • Incorporates considerations of cost and quality benefits in care decisions.

Job Requirements

Required Licenses

Nurse Practitioner

Licensed by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority. Current specialty certification by a SC State Board-approved Nurse Practitioner credentialing organization.

Physician Assistant

Certification by NCCPA. Licensure or eligible for licensing as a Physician's Assistantin the State of South Carolina.

Minimum Education

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a minimum of a Master's Degree.

Required Skills

BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
