Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities. The primary purpose of the OR Materials Coordinator position is to provide a variety of unit support functions that contribute to overall efficient operation of the Surgical Unit.  The OR Materials Coordinator is responsible for the management of the supply and equipment procurement and maintenance. 

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. 
 They monitor patient and charge sheet records for charge capture.

They assist in the billing of supply items and maintenance of implant log records.

They act as a buyer for supplies necessary to support inventory par levels.
Responsible for the management of supplies and equipment procurement and maintenance
Monitors patient and charge sheet records for daily supply usage to ensure accurate charge capture as well as any duties related to reconciliation, replacement, or creation of such items/charges within the system.
Assists in the billing of supply items and maintains implant log records
Responsible for counting departmental supplies, maintaining par levels, and accurately entering data into the computer, distributing supplies in a timely manner and assuring departmental issues are properly recorded and communicated to management as well as front line staff.
Acts as a buyer for supplies necessary to support inventory par levels or create new inventories (done typically through order sheets, purchase reqs, check requests, or use of P-card with reconciliation). Submits purchase req forms for signature. Demonstrates understanding of cost containment principles as well as maintaining contract compliance by working closely with the Materials Management Director, CFO, and Surgical Services Director.
Participates of products review committee and prepares all the necessary documentation in support of trialing new products..
Performs various storeroom activities such as restocking shelves, stock rotation, and inspecting items for damage and expiration dates, as well as maintaining physical inventories
Ensures correct charge codes with the charge master and fixing inaccuracies.
Responsible for end of month charge totals as well as repairs and loaner arrangements

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent  required

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous materials management experience preferred.
Required Skills 
Required to be competent in and utilize a variety of software programs for charges/billing and ordering of supplies such as GHX, VIRA, Craneware, CQI, SMART, and others as needed.
