The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for interviewing and entering all required data, maintaining quality and quantity standards for each patient. This will include:
  • Conducting patient interviews
  • Completing appropriate forms
  • Giving explanations of payment information and any other related hospital policies or regulations
  • Working with patients to assure the hospital receives maximum payment for all services rendered
  • Competently complete government forms including but not limited to:
    • Medicare Secondary Payer
    • Advance Beneficiary Notice
    • Important Message from Medicare forms
The successful candidate will be able to multitask and functions well in high stress environments. Meeting goals and deadlines must be a priority, while never sacrificing quality and always staying organized. Our hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and this position must be flexible to work nights, weekends and holidays based on the needs of the hospital.

Job Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in Medical Office, Business Administration or Accounting is strongly preferred
  • Must be proficient in MS Office
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be a problem solver, be able to calculate and collect payments
  • Able to read, interpret and follow policy and procedures, payor rules and regulations and apply at patient encounter
  • Must be able to communicate professionally with patients and family members faced with a variety of medical situations, from emergent to non-emergent
