The Staff Pharmacist shall carry out duties assigned by the Departmental Director and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.    The Staff Pharmacist shall interpret, compound and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to written orders issued by an authorized prescriber. The duties also include the provision of requested drug information to healthcare professionals and patients, participate in clinical and distributive pharmaceutical care to patients as delineated by the Pharmacy Director. The primary professional responsibility of a Staff Pharmacist is to provide pharmaceutical care: identifying, assessing and solving medication related problems.  Inherent in that responsibility is assisting in development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies.    The Staff Pharmacist plans, organizes and directs efforts to assist in meeting the patient's pharmaceutical needs.   Organizational relationships include being directly responsible to the Director of Pharmacy and responsible for the supervision of pharmacy technicians.           In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy.

Job Requirements

Graduate of a school of pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education, licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina. One year hospital experience preferred.
