Summary: 

Responsible for outpatientand inpatient evaluations, assessments, plans of care and ongoing physicaltherapy treatments as prescribed by a licensed physician.   Administer treatment plan of care in aneffort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease orphysical disability.   The therapist mustdocument, in a timely manner, all patient related information and ensure thatpatients are charged correctly per departmental and insurance carrierguidelines.  The staff therapistparticipates in departmental operational activities such as the budget, clinicalquality, clinical education, infection control, departmental safety and teambuilding programs.


Essential Functions:
  1. Performs allphysical therapy duties in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  2. Implements allaspects of patient care in a way that optimizes patient safety and minimizesrisk of medical error.
  3. Demonstratesknowledge and competence in physical therapy modalities.
  4. Treats all patientsand customers with respect and dignity.
  5. Provides physicaltherapy assessments on all indicated patients per policy. Includes geriatric,adult, adolescent and pediatric patient populations.
  6. Evaluates allphysical therapy interventions performed for quality, safety and effect.
  7. Modifies andprogresses plans of care to maximize recovery.
  8. Provides physicaltherapy recommendations to physicians as needed.
  9. Assesses patientpain and its role in interference with maximal function and potential.
  10. Coordinates patient care toensure patient’s needs are met and hospital and departmental policies arefollowed.
  11. Formulates correctdocumentation in the medical record for treatment rendered the effects,justification for ongoing treatment and the resulting charges.
  12. Shares knowledge and advicewith co-workers, colleagues and students.
  13. Learn and apply newinformation on methods of treatment, equipment, pathologies, etc. on anon-going basis.

Job Requirements

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree is required
Master's degree is preferred
Doctoral degree is preferred
 
Required License:

North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Licensure is required

 
Required Certification: 
American Heart Associate CPR is required
