Under the general supervision and with authority from the Respiratory Therapy Coordinator, the Polysomnographic Technologist (PSGT) has the responsibility and accountability for recommending, delegating and coordinating the provision of polysomnography via the established process for his/her assigned patients. The PSGT is responsible for meeting the standards of care and practice, performing in an ethical and professional manner, and the supplies and equipment in the sleep lab. The PSGT demonstrates professional responsibilities and accountabilities in collaborating with nursing, other ancillary departments and members of the health care team to establish and achieve patient goals and maintain high quality patient care. The RPSGT assesses and plans for patient/family/significant other educational needs and plans implements and evaluates care based on knowledge gained through educational efforts. The Polysomnographic Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide polysomnography for the Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric population served.

Job Requirements

  1. Formal training in polysomnography with conferred Diploma.
  2. BCLS certification required by hire date.
  3. Compliance with applicable licensure regulations.
  4. Ability to utilize keyboard, computer, and various pieces of general office equipment.
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
