St Francis Hospital

Provides a centralized source for scheduling certain diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures for all patients.  Collects and enters complete and accurate demographic and insurance information prior to the patients’ arrival.  Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance companies.   Works effectively with Physicians and their office staff to collect the required demographic and insurance information, along with the completed physician order to schedule the requested procedure. Contacts the patient before the scheduled appointment, to remind the patient, set the expectation of payment, and answer any questions the patient may have.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to workwith minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment andtake appropriate action.

Customer Service Certification desirable X Patient Access Certificationdesirable

Minimum WorkExperience
Minimum one (1) year in customer service focused environment. Computer, dataentry experience. Familiar with Third Party Payers Utilization ManagementRequirements for Outpatient Procedures. Must possess an understanding ofMedical Terminology and diagnostic procedures. Previous scheduling or medicaldiagnostic department experience.
