Looking for a new challenge?  Our 75-bed hospital in Elko, NV is looking for a director to lead a participative team of our Quality, Risk, and Safety Department (4 staff members).

This is a full time, salaried position.

This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements and objectives of NNRH.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluating, disciplinary actions, payroll, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Leads the National Quality Program initiatives, which includes providing education to the facility on the Foundational 5.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.  Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Serve as the lead contact for various surveys and audits, such as The Joint Commission, OSHA, SAR,s etc..

This high desert community experiences four mild annual seasons.   Winter months bring average high temperatures in the 30's, and lows averaging about 10 degrees.  Spring and fall months bring warmer temperatures accompanied by cool nights.  The dry summer months bring average high temperatures around 90 degrees.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.  Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:  Fiveyears’ experience in quality, risk management, regulatory compliance, andsafety in a health care setting is required. 

Licensure:  Nevadalicensed Registered Nurse upon hire. American Heart Association BLS required upon hire.

Skills:  Requiresknowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures, OSHA, TJCstandards.  The ability to retrieve,communicate or otherwise present information in a written, typed, auditory orvisual fashion is essential.  The methodsused to express or exchange ideas are by spoken, written, or typed words.  Written and manual dexterity skills are alsorequired for the position.  Ability toassess a variety of complex situations and determine the most effective meansto resolve situations.  Leadership skillsin decision making, problem solving, and interpersonal relations are involvedin the daily contacts of working with department directors.  Sets the climate for cooperation betweenco-workers and shifts for a smooth-running operation.
