Evaluates and provides therapeutic activities for patients in the Behavioral Health Unit. Performs structured evaluations and develops a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselor using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related therapeutic discipline required
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of therapy coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville.
Licenses: License from the Virginia State Board to practice in area of specialty peferred
Certifications: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required within one yearBasic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required
Minimum Work Experience: One (1) year of experience in a psychiatric or health care setting preferred
