SOVAH Health - Martinsville

Provides nursing care before, during, and after cardiac rehab.  Primarily responsible for the care of patients participating in cardiac rehab exercise program.  The RN is responsible for assisting with the procedure, providing patient education, assessment and monitoring, administering medications as needed and participating in performance improvement activities.  The RN will also be responsible for conscious sedation monitoring of bronchoscopies as needed. Provides age specific directed care for the adolescent, adult and geriatric individuals, i.e., those tasks necessary for physical care and comfort, supportive tasks and teaching according to standards of care and cultural diversity. Participates in Quality Assurance and practices Infection control policies. Participates in an on call schedule for weekend cardiac stress testing. Practice in accordance with state and federal law and health care regulatory standards.

Job Requirements

Education: Current Registered Nurse licensure from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.  BLS and ACLS certification – if not current, training required. EKG arrhythmia training.
 
Experience:  Cardiac Rehab experience preferred; minimal of 2 years nursing experience to consist of Critical Care, Cath Lab, Emergency Department, or Telemetry. 
 
Skills: Requires ability to function in stressful situations.   Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice.   Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care.   Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include Assessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.  
 
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination.  Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time.  May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.  May require frequent bending, squatting and kneeling.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.  Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
