Providence Health is looking for an experienced Respiratory Therapist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years critical care and ER experience.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist PRN performs pulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory care related procedures and responsibilities within the scope of the pulmonary rehabilitation/ respiratory policies and procedures, under general supervision and medical direction of physician orders and protocols. Accepts and transcribes verbal and telephone orders from physician on respiratory therapy procedures. Recognition of and attention to the psychosocial needs of participants and their families. Utilizes knowledge to insure the care provided meets the unique physical and psychosocial needs to be met based on the participants health condition.

Essential Functions

  • Assist, direct and support patients during pulmonary rehab exercise classes.
  • Perform and teach airway clearance modalities for the purpose of assisting the patient in the mobilization of bronchial secretions. Complete 6 minute walk tests.
  • Teach pulmonary rehab classes with focus on fundamental needs of the pulmonary rehab patient. Help patients to establish realistic and achievable goals.
  • Must be able to chart using Meditech. Must be able to communicate with co-workers, physicians, and patients.
  • Position may be physically demanding and will require long periods of time spent standing. Must assist patients getting on and off exercise equipment.
  • Able to report to work in a timely manner dressed comfortably and appropriately. Must present a professional image while at work, have a positive, upbeat attitude.
  • Initiate and maintain oxygen therapy systems to treat or reverse hypoxemia, provide supplement oxygenation for use with exercise as directed by physician order or department protocols.
  • Observes and supports hospital policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum WorkExperience

At least 4 years ofexperience needed in Respiratory Care with experience in acute care hospital.

Minimum Education

RespiratoryTherapists must be have an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care.

Required Licenses/Certifications


The RespiratoryTherapist must be certified or registered as a respiratory therapist by theNational Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and have a valid South Carolinalicense to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).

Requiredcertifications include: ACLS, BLS

PRN (as needed)
