Job Description for Registered Nurse - Charge:

  1. Reinforces and disseminates information, policy decisions and plans as discussed by AD and accepts responsibility to take appropriate disciplinary steps when problems arise in absence of the AD
  2. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and skill in specialty areas
  3. Ensures supplies and equipment needs for the unit are met.
  4. Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for hire.
  5. Completes evaluations for assigned employees
  6. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent situations.
  7. Exhibits flexibility in meeting departmental needs, supports staff and triage nurses in their roles.
  8. Assesses patient status and develops, implements and evaluates the plan of care based on the patients assessed needs.
  9. Considers factors and implements actions to ensure safety, effectiveness and cost containment in planning and delivering care to patients, families and visitors.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:

Associate’s degree required.

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Licenses:

Current RN license to practice in NC.
