The primary purpose of your job is to administer, direct and coordinate the activities of patient care administration within your assigned department.   You are responsible for the recommendation, development and implementations of policies and procedures specified for you area in conjunction with the IMCU Coordinator/Director.  You are responsible for keeping the IMCU Coordinator/Director informed of both progress and potential problems.  You are responsible for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery for all ages of your specific unit.  Maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit.

Job Requirements

Education: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama. BLS & ACLS certifications required (BLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire date; ACLS may be obtained within 6 months of hire date). PALS preferred.
Experience: Must have two (2) years nursing  experience in acute care hospital setting  or minimum one year acute care nursing experience with demonstrated proficiency in leadership qualities, exceptional assessment skills and critical thinking abilities. Requirement will include successful completion of orientation checklist and competency requirement for identified age groups of patients.
Skills: Required ability to function in stressful situations. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to perceive, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities.  The position requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering client age and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include assessment/reassessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Physical Requirements:  Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 6 hours per day, lift/carry50 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without vision corrective device.
