Manages the daily operations of the assigned department or function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.

Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements. Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies. Assesses the quality of patient care delivered and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments. May provide patient care when necessary. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment: telephone/overhead paging/fax/calculator/computer and new technology as it becomes available and necessary for the job.Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional behavior.

Assists Director in preparation of schedules assignments, Kronos, monthly data collection and performance improvement activities. In collaboration with director-assists with hiring, counseling ,firing, orientation and evaluation of employees.
Works with unit educator to ensure that competencies for staff are completed.
Is responsible for ensuring that department is in compliance with policies and procedures of the hospital, regulations or applicable regulatory agencies and stands of the Joint Commission.
Completes projects as assigned by director, other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree Preferred
Required Skills
Certifications:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required on hire
Competencies:
Moderate & Deep Sedation- required within 30 days of hire
NIHSS Stroke Scale- required within 60 days of hire
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
