Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Pulaski

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides direct and indirect patient care.


He/She applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.


The Registered Nurse must possess good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients and families.


He/She will work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure that quality care is delivered.

Essential Functions

Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of the patient.

Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide care to the patients.

Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan of care.

Administering medications and treatments within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse.

Recording patient care activities including assessment, reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patients medical record.

Using a variety of computer systems.

Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient.

Providing patient and family education related to treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care.

Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in a manner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients, and promotes heath and healing.

The ability and willingness to follow established Standards of Performance.


Job Requirements

Minimum Education

Associatesor Bachelor Degree in Nursing.

Required Skills

Mustpossess strong computer skills and have the ability to work with multiplecomputer systems.

Certifications

BasicLife Support (BLS)

AdvancedCardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

PediatricAdvanced Life Support (PALS)

License

Mustpossess an active RN license in the state of TN or hold a compact State RNlicense with the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.

Musthave current BLS/CPR certification.

Mustobtain ACLS within 12 months of hire

Mustbe able to read and communicate effectively in English.

Mustbe able to operate standard patient care equipment for services provided.

Mustpossess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quickly in changingsituations, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible inapplying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.
