Job Description for Registered Nurse:

1.Assessing the patient’s physical and mental health including the patient’s reaction to illnesses and treatment regimens.
2. Recording and reporting the results of the nursing assessment.
3. Planning, initiating, delivering, and evaluating appropriate nursing acts.
4. Teaching, assigning, delegating to or supervision other personnel in implementing the treatment regimen.
5.Collaborating with other health care providers in determining the appropriate health care for a patient but, subject to the provisions of G.S.90-18.2, not in prescribing a medical treatment regimen or making a medical treatment regimen or making a medical diagnosis, except under supervision of a licensed physician.
6. Implementing the treatment and pharmaceutical regimen prescribed by any person authorized by State law to prescribe the regimen.
7. Providing teaching and counseling about the patient’s health.
8. Reporting and recording the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response to that care.
9. Supervising, teaching, and evaluation those who perform or are preparing to perform nursing functions and administering nursing programs and nursing services.
10.Providing for the maintenance of safe and effective nursing care, whether rendered directly or indirectly. Nursing Practice Act Article 9A, State of North Carolina – July 2005.
11. Monitors neurological, cardiac and medical patients status and implements and carries out treatment plans.
12. Manages long term trached mechanically ventilated patients and is proficient in airway management for the step-down patient.
13. Proficient in management of neurologically impaired/compromised patients.
14. Knowledgeable and proficient in caring for Epilepsy Monitoring Unit patients.
15. Ability to monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately.
NPCU- Frye was one of the area’s first Primary Stroke Centers accredited by The Joint Commission since 2008. The NeuroProgessive Care Unit is Frye’s designated Stroke Unit and has 18 beds. Frye has partnered with Wake Forest Baptist Hospital’s Telestroke program to ensure our patients have access to neurologists 24/7. The stroke program was a recipient of The American Heart Association, Get with the Guidelines Gold Stroke Award for 2016. Our Stroke Team nurses take an active part in our stroke program through application of best practice and education.

Job Requirements

Current North Carolina License.

Current CPR/BLS.

ACLS recommended.
