Responsible for providing patient care based upon the nursing process: being effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for assigned patients through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.  Oversees and guides employees that are under his/her supervision.  Does patient/family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary staff and other patient care providers to maintain standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Maintains active communication among medical staff, self, and peers.  Responsible for providing leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals.  Maintains competent post-operative skill level to ensure provision of safe quality patient care.  Delivers care specific to the age, growth and level of development of patients, including infants, pediatrics, adolescent and geriatric.  Responsible for assessment, analysis of data, and formulation of a plan of care

Job Requirements

Graduate of a school of professional Nursing and completion of a specialty course or equivalent.  One year medical/surgical nursing experience required.  Prefer critical care experience; PACU experience highly desired.  Current RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Current BCLS certification required.  ASPAN certification highly desirable.   ACLS required within 3 months of hire.  PALS highly desired.
