Under the direction of a director or other supervisor, assumes the responsibility and accountability for producing excellent clinical skills, quality patient care initiatives and facilitate effective interpersonal communication with colleagues.  Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients using evidence-based practice and adjusting resources to ensure safety and continuity of care.  Will conduct patient education as necessary.  Under the guidance of a qualified provider, administers medications according to site-specific protocols.  Nurse follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality. Nurse works in collaboration with all other care disciplines to provide safe, efficient, and coordinated care for patients.  Utilizes established policies and procedures of WCCH and maintains clinical competencies through continuing education.  He/she must be able to recognize and assess changes in mental and/or physical conditions resulting in life threatening conditions. 

Job Requirements

  1. Licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  2. Registered and in good standing with Board of Nursing
  3. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  4. ACLS certified within 60 days of hire
  5. At least 2 years recent relevant nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
  6. At least one year of previous experience in Wound Care strongly preferred
  7. Competency completion required within 90 days
  8. Ability to accept on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts when acuity and/or census indicate need.  Will be available to report to facility within 45 minutes of notification.  This status will be determined by Department Director or Administrator on call.
