Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is looking for an energetic candidate for their Scheduler/Patient Access Clerk position. This position is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling and pre-authorization validation prior to date of service. Primary responsibility is scheduling / pre-registration with all other functions and activities related to patient access including but not limited to: switchboard, surgery registration, pre-certification, on-site insurance verification, point of service collection, and discharge. 

Duties included, but are not limited to the following:

- Answer phone calls from physician offices and patients to accurately coordinate patient scheduling.

- Ensures all patients are called prior to the date of service for pre-registration.

- Ability to have financial conversations with patients as it pertains to out of pocket expense.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, Medical Secretary and/or Medical Administrative Education preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year work-related experience in a medical/clinical office, experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Previous experience with computerized registration systems and Electronic Health Record System preferred.
  • Knowledge of the scheduling system and processes preferred.
  • Familiarity of medical insurance and medical terminology is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory.
  • Must have articulate verbal communication skills and telephone etiquette.
  • Must have exceptional and excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with patients and visitors of all demographics is required.
  • Computer proficiency and data entry skills.
  • The ability to effectively work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment as well as work independently.
