The Senior Accountant serves as an integral part of the accounting team responsible for providing support to the Physician Services (PS) Accounting Department, maintain complete control over the general ledger accounting for which PS is responsible, and assist with monthly closings and account analysis to carry out the responsibilities of the accounting department. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.  
  • Review monthly PS Intercompany accounting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information in the general ledger.
  • Analyze, prepare, and communicate Intercompany activity to the necessary facilities each month.
  • Make recommendations and assist with presentations on financial actions to senior management 
  • Review monthly budget variance report for HSC spend.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports.
  • Assist with special projects 
  • Assist in month-end and year-end operations and reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of the PS Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR).
  • Assist with preparation of the annual budget.
  • Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by following Company standardized policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, analyze, and provide multi-Company and facility accounting and allocations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).  Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices. 
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and state regulatory environments as needed.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA ready preferred

Business Mathematical Skills -- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and in-terpret graphs.

Moderate Computer Skills -- Frequent use of electronic mail, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate simple functions into documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations to support business objectives. 

Moderate Communication -- Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in func-tional areas, interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management. 

Routine Business Problems -- Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.

Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or hospital environment.
Minimal overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.
