Bolivar Medical Center

Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of hospital in good repair.  Minor electrical work, mechanical repairs and other duties relating to maintenance are the primary duties.  Participates in Performance improvement and CQI activities.  Provides for the upkeep and overall safety of the hospital grounds.
  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Engineering Department.
  • All phases of lawn care.  The lawn is to be mowed weekly, which includes edging, weed eating and air blowing of sidewalks, curbs and parking lots.  Shrubs will be trimmed as needed.
  • Beds will be de-weeded as needed to maintain appearance.
  • Mulch will be added two times per year.
  • Pick up trash from flower beds/lawn daily
  • Sprinkler system will be monitored on a weekly basis and adjusted, as needed. 
  • Maintain all lawn care equipment
  • Assists in maintaining and minor repairs to HVAC controls and associated equipment.
  • Performs minor repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required.
  • Responsible for construction activities in the facility that include: Painting, floor work, sheetrock floating and sanding.  Repairs to damaged walls and other areas within the facility.  New construction activities including demolition.
  • Performs manual duties as requested (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap materials).
  • Reads blueprints, interprets instructions and prepares specifications.
  • Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
  • Ability to do work on his/her own with only normal supervision.
  • Ability to work well on his/her own and to inspect facilities and equipment.
  • A working knowledge of the fire alarm and signal systems.
  • A thorough knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.

Job Requirements

Regulatory Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and 3-6 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
