The Team Leader assures provision of optimum quality patient care by serving as an assistant to the Clinical Manager, assists in daily unit functions; serves as a reference and resources person for staff, patient and family; coordinates patient care with other departments; assumes responsibility for units’ activities and evaluating the effectiveness of the staff and unit performance. Functions as care coordinator.  The registered nurse provides nursing care according to the physician’s orders and in conformance with the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Care, ANA Code of Ethics, unit specific standards, Patient Care policies and procedures, unit specific policies and procedures, and the Virginia Nurse Practice Act.  The RN is responsible and accountable for individual, autonomous nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks and nursing activities in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. Responsible for the processes of assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care.  Initiates health care training and education to the patient/family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Danville Regional Medical Center and the Department of Nursing.  Demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care.  Accountable for the supervision of other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel for assigned unit. 

Job Requirements

Graduate from a school of professionalnursing.  Previous experience in acutecare hospital setting preferred.  Currentlicensure or eligible as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.  AHA-ACLS and PALS or ENA ENPC required ormust be obtained within 6 months of hire.  ENA TNCC certifications preferred.
