Jackson Purchase Medical Center

The Ultrasound-Rad Technologist shall be responsible for performingultrasound examinations as required by staff physicians, under the direction ofthe Radiologist.


•        Observesprofessional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning thefinancial, personal, medical or employment status of patients/families at JPMC.

•        Must follow andenforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.

•        Must reportsafety hazards and initiate appropriate action.

•        Must participatein safety instructional programs.

•        Reviews requestfor examination against patient’s armband. Types or prints pertinent data onpatient cards.

•        Uses appropriateprotocols to perform specified exams and adjust Ultrasound equipment. Usesappropriate transducer.

•        Performs exam.Develops film and monitors film quality. Delivers film to Radiologist.Correlates and makes available patient’s clinical history to Radiologist.

•        Monitorsequipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor.

•        Cleans patientequipment as required.

•        Assesses patientand reports any changes to supervisor and/or physician.

•        Transportspatients.

•        Correctlyidentifies and labels all films.

•        Demonstratesconcern for patient safety, comfort and privacy. Explains exam, checks patient’s armband, and questions patient concerning pertinent history(allergies, pregnant, and proper consent) when pertinent.

•        Maintains orderand cleanliness of work area.

•        Performs darkroom tasks.

•        Schedulesprocedures in a manner that promotes patient flow within the department.

•        Takes call asassigned.

Performs other jobduties as assigned.


Job Requirements

High School Diploma/GED

RT License required

Technical Training

Previous experience required (2 years preferred)

Computer Training
